It has been a warm week in Kaçanik and that is unfortunate for Mathias (in the 90s). Friday, we took a walk around the city in the morning before it got too hot. We went to the Cultural House and showed him Thom's office and we walked in the shade along the river. We stopped at stores along the way to pick up a few items and walked to where the farmer's market is held. After our walk, we went to the newly renovated Tropical for a break and some drinks.
While we were sitting in the outdoor seating of Tropical, we saw Remzi and he came over to sit with us. We used a combination of bad Albanian, bad German, and a little English to have conversation. We had no plan for the afternoon except to escape the sun by resting at our apartment.
Remzi had other plans and invited us to Brezovicë which is at a higher elevation. We agree to go and Remzi took us to a restaurant (Apollonia 1991) there that was by a stream under some trees and the air was fresh and cool. We enjoyed pizza, drinks, and our interesting conversation. Later Valon joined us on his way from Ferizaj. After Valon joined us, we switched to the Hotel Brezovicë for a round of coffee and had a pleasant afternoon of conversation before heading back to heat of Kaçanik.
Good things happen, when you don't have plans.

Great stuff, Brenda. Love what you're doing.
ReplyDeleteGreat day it sounds like. Brezovica is wonderful for skiing too. Many of us have been there for that . I think it’s an ideal place to visit with these high temps. Love your writing… this one especially how you introduced new characters or people one meets by taking a chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your writing it’s wonderful. Stay cool! Hi to Thom!
