This Morning, I leave Kaçanik...

Today, I will leave Kaçanik.  Danny has to go to Prishtina as well, so we plan to leave on the 11 am bus.  Yesterday was cleaning day.  I started the day by cleaning the refrigerator, doing some laundry, and making a lentil and cous cous salad for dinner.  I was cleaning up some remaining ingredients.  I was on defrosting the freezer when the water went out.  I was worried that it would not come back on until after we left.  I found a bottle of glass cleaner and started cleaning mirrors, windows, and the cabinet.  The glass cleaner worked well on the white laminate cabinet doors and the stove front.

I had one last coffee with Elise, so I contacted her and Danny to see if the timing was good.  Danny is coming to get the last of our food and a few other things.  Thom and I were planning to walk with Danny to help him carry stuff.  So we ate our lunch, and after lunch, Danny came over.  At the same time, Elise said she was available, and the water came back on.  We all went to have coffee with Elisa, and then after that we carried the stuff to Danny's.  We checked out his place, and while it is close to the highway, it seems pretty good.  Then we had one last coffee at Trofta, the restaurant in Danny's village. On our way home, the wind was blowing very hard right in our faces.  But fortunately, a very Kosovar thing happened.  A teacher from my school saw us and stopped to give us a ride into town.  We finally got back home around dinner time.  The freezer was completely thawed, and I was able to clean it out.  I was able to do a load of laundry.  After dinner, I started the dishwasher.

While I was getting into the shower, Teuta arrived.  I paid the last rent, and we made a plan to meet at 10:30 to exchange the keys.  After Teuta left, the power went out.  No water, power outage, strong valley winds -- it's Kosovo's way of saying "goodbye" and a reminder that things will be different at home.  As I write this, I am waiting for the last load of laundry to hang out.  Teuta knows that I will leave the sheets on the drying rack when I leave.  Then I will run out to pay the last two bills.  Then I will say goodbye to Kosovo with one last bus ride to Ferizaj and then Prishtina.
