It was such a great day from the 8 am walk until breakfast to every session held with every Polish student, I am so impressed with the people I am meeting.
During the day we continue to have sessions and learn more about our participants, but the best time of the day is after dinner. We have a few beers or glasses of wine and we talk. We find out how much we have in common with people from all over the world. Both from our Polish participants and from our native speakers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, and the UK.
The Polish participants have brought their families and their children here to learn English, because they believe it is important for their children. I believe we all try to do those things that benefit our children most.
Highlights of today, were my morning walk. I saw Wojtek as I walked out our venue this morning and he told me about the cranes at the small lake a short distance away. The cranes were gone from the lake, but I walked further down the road and saw them in a wheat field. They are different from our sand hill cranes. They are whitish, gray with black edges on the wings.
On the way to breakfast this morning, I saw what I thought was a small snake. Asia (pronounced Asha), who is on the Angloville staff, said it was a Polish legless lizard. I looked it up and it is a Slowworm, Anguis fragilis legless lizard also called blindworm or common slow worm.
The staff at the venue here ask us to move outside at 10 pm so that they can close up. The other Wojtek found candles to sit on the table and we sat outside in the cool summer air. We have amazing conversations and enjoy each others company. It was a wonderful day.
