Because of our flight cancellation and having to rebook, we received an upgrade on our seats for our flight from Philadelphia to Warsaw. We had more leg room and wider seats. Our meal included complimentary wine or beer and was served on china with real silverware. We got a lovely warm cloth to wash our hands with before dinner, a nice blanket and pillow plus a little goodie bag. The flight to Heathrow was uneventful, however; we were not able to make our connecting flight, because Heathrow is a bit of a mess to navigate. We did not have a gate number for our flight, so we were not sure which gates A, B, or C. We did know that the flight was taking off from the same terminal. By the time our tram got us to the A gates, it was already too late to check in. We stood in the line that they told us to go to and then we got sent back to the ticketing agent line. When we finally go to the ticketing agent, she did get us on the Polish Airline Lot and it was just 3 hours later. After having to change terminals and go through security again, we still had time to get coffee and breakfast with the vouchers we received because of the missed flight. The flight to Warsaw went well and so here we are in Warsaw.
The bus to downtown was easy to purchase tickets for and easy to find. We did have a little bit of a walk to get to our apartment. It is nice with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and balcony. We are in the center of the city and there is a little park across from our balcony. We got our things settled and then took a walk to a vegan restaurant for dinner. Then we walked from the restaurant to the Vistula River. The river was a happening place with food vendors, restaurants, places to sit, or walk.
We last visited Warsaw in 2005 and it has changed a lot with the addition of modern taller office buildings. The Copernicus Science Center is the same as I remembered. I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more smokers and people that vape here than I see in the U.S. Although many females wear dresses and skirts, their dress seems more casual than I remembered. Many of the dresses were sheer or see through and the styles were so varied. We ended up walking about 8 miles today, which is pretty good given the amount of time we spent traveling today.
