Several weeks ago, we found that we would not be going to Cambodia. I am very near-sighted and we found that they do not have the ability to repair retinol tears in country. Although, I have not had a retinol tear, I have had a vitreous tear in 2009. I guess that makes me subject to retinol tears. So they let us know that they would be looking for a country that could handled both my eye needs and Thom's potential need for a cardiologists.
When we first apply to the Peace Corps, we interviewed for service in Albania, but when things opened back up after Covid; we got the invite to Mongolia. As we waited for our next invite, Thom commented on how funny it would be if we ended up going to Albania. On Friday, we received our new invite. It is not Albania, but it is close. We are now invited to service in Kosovo (where 80% of the people speak Albanian). We like the placement except that we will not be leaving until February 23rd.
