We spent a week in Tallmadge, Ohio to celebrate Thom's Mom's (Nancy) 90th birthday. Family members gathered at our sister-in-law's house on Saturday, November 11th for the festivities. All 10 grandkids did a video of memories and what they had learned from their Grammy. We had a sing-a-long, enjoyed good food, and watching the littlest ones having fun.

After our week of visiting with family, we headed to Charlottesville, Virginia to watch a cat for a PhD student. We drove past Pittsburgh on our way to Charlottesville. Thom's mom is from Pitcairn, which is a suburb of Pittsburgh. He took a quick detour and drove past the house she was born in.
We then headed to Cumberland, Maryland (pop. 18,736). We stopped here to walk for an hour along the C & O Canal Trail., which is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park and National Scenic Trail. The 184 mile trail starts in Washington D.C. and ends in Cumberland. It was a great little walk on the tow path between the canal and the Potomac River. We had sunny weather and about 60 degrees. It was a nice break before heading on to Charlottesville.

We arrived in Charlottesville and drove to meet Evan (cat owner) and Toots (the cat). Evan showed us his place, talked us through the care of Toots, and gave use the key. We will start house sitting in the morning.
